About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic person to join our Laboratory Support Services team. As an entry level position, it would suit a person who is willing to learn and who has an outstanding work ethic.
The Laboratory Support Services team is part of the dedicated healthcare professionals at Clinpath Laboratories, working as part of Sonic Healthcare, Australia's largest provider of private pathology services.
The department operates extended hours over seven days and a variety of day, afternoon, evening, overnight and weekend shifts are available, 0700 till 12am (Mon-Fri), 0700 till 2300 (Sat). Participation in weekend and public holiday rosters may be required. Suitable candidates may work in both Specimen Reception and Data entry areas. Attractive penalty rates payable for out of hours work.
Key Responsibilities of Laboratory Assistants:
- Triaging of blood, urine, faecal and other biological substances in the specimen reception area;
- General administration; and
- Other duties as required.
Skills & Experience:
- Willingness to learn the specific laboratory techniques;
- Proven exceptional attention to detail and the ability to follow established procedures;
- Excellent verbal communication skills and professional telephone manner;
- Comfortable taking responsibility for timely and thorough completion of tasks;
- An outstanding work ethic and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment to achieve and maintain our commitment to service excellence and patient care; and
Specific area experience is not essential, however, the following will be highly regarded:
- Understanding of Medical Terminology
- Experience in a Health, Medical or Health-/Science work setting
- Current or past tertiary student in the Medical, Nursing, or Health Science disciplines
